Committee volunteers celebrate a successful event
|
Each year, more than 250 people volunteer their time to help UFS serve community needs. Whether providing general office support, accompanying a woman to the hospital or providing childcare so parents can get help, volunteers are bringing about positive change in the lives of those around them.
To learn more about how you can get involved, attend a Volunteer Connections event. These sessions provide an overview of the many opportunities available and match volunteers' skills with appropriate programs. Domestic Violence Court Advocate
Court Advocates accompany victims of domestic violence who are filing criminal complaints or those seeking protective orders to court during daytime hours. Advocates provide moral support and information. Call 704.336.4126 for more information.
Domestic Violence Hospital Response
Volunteer advocates provide safety assessment, safety planning, photo documentation of injuries, domestic violence education, and support to victims of intimate partner violence at CMC-Main Campus. Volunteers provide services on nights, weekends, and holidays, and must be able to arrive at hospital within 30 minutes of call. Call 704.446.3999 for details.
Rape Crisis Companion
Opportunities available in Cabarrus, Mecklenburg or Union county. Companions are on call to respond to hotline calls and to meet sexual assault victims at area hospital emergency rooms. They offer information, comfort and support during a very traumatic and difficult time. To volunteer in Union County, call 704.226.1352; in Cabarrus County, call 704.786.7918; and in Mecklenburg County, call 704.332.9034.
